Success Story
Arlington couple thanks AHC for help in repairing, maintaining and refinancing.

Dear Mr. Webdale,
In May 2000, we purchased our first home (and our only home). AHC lent us $3,000 to help in the down payment, with a payment plan that included very low interest and 5 years to complete payment.
The winter of 2006 our heat pump failed (it was over 25 years old) and we were in the cold and could not afford to replace it. AHC came to our aid and provided us with an emergency assistance loan to have the heat-pump replaced with a new one and a much more efficient one.
Our home is in Arlington Village (built in 1940). In the summer of 2007 we were having problems with the basic infrastructure of the home due to its age, and the major appliances were over 25 years old, failing and costing a lot in inefficiency. The staff at AHC assisted us in determining what should be repaired and/or replaced. They then helped us find a contractor and a loan to have the vitally needed work done. Our electric and gas bills have dropped considerable since completion of the work (decrease of about 30 – 40%).
Finally, in 2008 we needed to refinance and once again AHC helped us. Jimmie Jones was a pleasure to work with. He explained the process and took a lot of time with us, making a difficult refinancing arrangement (our income is below the average in Arlington) happen. We now feel confident we will be able to stay in our home and take a lot of pride in our home and Arlington County.
Sincerely,
John and Dyann Bishop
