Meet Our Interns

September 15, 2023

We are lucky to have several students and graduates working as interns with us this fall. The interns are supporting our Resident Services team, Community Engagement team, Data Analysis, and Greater Baltimore office. Many of them are working with us as a part of their Master of Social Work (MSW) programs. We also have a new AmeriCorps VISTA working with our Resident Services team. Read more about them below.

AHC Senior Resident Services Manager & Resident Services Intern
Virginia Commonwealth University, Master of Social Work

“My passion is giving back to the community. I grew up in Arlington, and being able to give back has been rewarding. Furthermore, I love to learn about different resources Arlington has to offer and share with the families and team that I work with. I will try my best to share any information that will be helpful and beneficial to AHC that I have learned in school.”

Community Engagement Intern
Marymount University, Undergraduate student, Digital Writing and Narrative Design

“I've taken on various roles at AHC, from starting as a kid participating in the programs to working as a Community Engagement Assistant. Now I'm excited to keep exploring AHC through Community Engagement.”

Resident Services Intern
George Mason University, Master of Social Work

“What I look forward to the most with work with AHC is the ability to understand the behind-the-scenes work that occurs with providing housing assistance. With a better understanding of how this system works, I will be able to provide better resource referrals to future clients that I assist.”

Greater Baltimore Intern
University of Maryland Baltimore, Master of Social Work

“I was motivated to come to AHC because housing needs are often at the center of many other needs including food, medication, family support, and more. Helping one feel at home is the best first step to accomplishing any of these other goals, and to be able to help with that will be an honor.”

Resident Services Intern
George Mason University, Master of Social Work

“I am looking forward to engaging with the residents and getting hands-on experience with the basics, such as case management and setting up events. I love helping people, and my Spanish language capabilities will help bridge some of the communication gap.”

Resident Services Intern
University of Maryland Baltimore, Master of Social Work

“I am truly looking forward to working with the residents at Charter House to help meet their needs and collaborate with them on their goals for this year. I’m hoping to have a chance to learn more about the residents, continue to foster community spirit, and truly scaffold the growth and well-being of individuals, as well as the community through my work.”

Data Analysis Intern

“I love puzzles and problem-solving. For me, data analysis is solving puzzles in the real world. I am very excited to bring my skills and passion for data and coding to AHC and its mission of providing affordable housing."

Resident Services Intern
University of Maryland Baltimore, Master of Social Work

“I’m most looking forward to getting to know the community around where I live. I heard a lot about the good work that is being done by AHC, and I wanted to be a part of that energy.”

AmeriCorps VISTA
Resident Services

"I was really impressed with all the work AHC Inc. has done in not only providing housing, but going further and ensuring residents are able to thrive in the communities they are now a part of. I’m looking forward to learning more about what specific barriers these communities face and the innovative ways AHC’s Resident Services program has gone about attempting to combat those barriers and meet the needs of the community."
