Since the beginning of the outbreak, some 250 volunteers regularly donated their time and energy to work hand-in-hand with AHC’s staff and ensure that affordable housing residents continued to receive vital services. In addition, numerous community organizations and more than 100 volunteers helped AHC expand its food distribution program from six to 26 sites. Volunteers also continued to tutor and mentor K-12 students virtually, providing a critical lifeline to students struggling to keep up with the curriculum during the pandemic.
AHC Inc. is proud to announce our participation in the “Buy a Neighbor School Supplies” program, a new community partnership to provide school supplies and resources to students in need in Arlington, VA. Neighbors can support children and families for as little as $10. All donations will help us distribute gift cards, allowing families to purchase their own school supplies, health and safety supplies, and any additional resources they need for at-home or distance learning for the 2020-2021 school year.
AHC’s top priority is to help our residents stay in their homed during this challenging time. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, we understand that many residents are experiencing difficult financial situations. To help, we are extending our current rental relief programs in order to provide more flexibility on rental payments for the rest of 2020. As a result, AHC Management has suspended all late fees and evictions until December 31, 2020. In addition, AHC Management will make sure that there will be NO RENT INCREASES for all residents through January 1, 2021.

AHC congratulates the 31 amazing young people who participated in our College and Career Readiness program this year. All graduated from high school and are off to college in the fall – the first generation in their family to achieve this milestone. In total, they were accepted into 135 schools and received an estimated $1.24 million in scholarships and aid. We are deeply appreciative of all the mentors, volunteers and partners who helped them achieve their dreams.
