Four decades of experience, strong community partnerships, and innovative development strategies.
Our Mission Statement: Founded in 1975, AHC develops affordable housing and helps communities thrive in the Northern Virginia, Washington DC and Baltimore region. We provide a wide array of educational programs and social services in our community centers to help residents build more stable and successful lives.
AHC is among the largest developers of affordable and mixed-income housing in the Washington-Baltimore metro region. Since 1975, we have worked hard to meet the ongoing need for affordable housing in our highly competitive and very expensive market. Today, the organization has developed or preserved 50+ properties providing more than 7,500 affordable, workforce, and market-rate apartments.
Our commitment to the communities we serve is deep and ongoing. We take pride in developing quality properties that strengthen neighborhoods and increase property values.
AHC continues to grow and expand thanks to our experienced and innovative Real Estate Development team. In Arlington, we are the oldest and largest affordable housing developer. In 2004, we opened an office in Baltimore, AHC Greater Baltimore to respond to that area’s housing needs and also preserved affordable apartment communities in Montgomery County, MD. We have partnered on several projects in the city of Alexandria and continue to look for opportunities in other Fairfax County communities.
Our Resident Services program, initiated more than 25 years ago, is helping build stronger futures for more than 3,000 children, youth and adults who live in our affordable housing communities through education programs, community partnerships, and local services. We provide programs for families in Virginia and in Maryland.
Join us as a community partner, a volunteer, or a supporter in a stronger future we can all share.
