The Shell is a new 83-unit affordable apartment building at the intersection of Columbia Pike and Greenbrier Street in the Columbia Heights West Neighborhood. Leasing started in early 2015. The apartment community is built on a parcel of land that once included a Shell gas station.
AHC combined undeveloped land it owned next to its Harvey Hall Apartments with the gas station’s parcel to assemble a large enough site to develop the new apartment building. The six-story structure is built around a central courtyard with ground floor retail on Columbia Pike.
